In the Portland, we love our Growlers..... But in Bend this past weekend, girlfriends and I discovered Growletts, a smaller Growler, that contains about 2.5 pints, a perfect smaller size!! And it's all mine!!!
Cheers!

Rubbers
Rubbers are what every man needs in Portland..... and I dont mean the kind you are thinking;)
I am talking about the Rubber Overshoe Loafer, that fits right over your leather-soled dress shoes. This keeps those $100+ shoes nice and dry in the office. The Rubbers fold up easily to fit in a desk or briefcase when not in use. Did I mention they are only $17 on Amazon??!! We are planning on a rainy spring, but his shoes will be nice and dry.

6pm
6pm is a great time of day....hubby is home, dinner is coming together and almost ready, kids playing quietly...well almost. But, my mom has told me about this great website www.6pm.com. I know, your already a member of Rue La La and Zulily and Haute Couture and ...and....and, why would you register for yet another discount clothing website that makes you enter with a password? BUT, if your looking for a specific brand, or item, you can find it here. I just got hubby, Josh, a Patagonia Better Sweater for $58 and a pair of Cole Haan Chukka Boots for $59. Pictures are below. I was looking at Burton snowboard pants for myself and the average price was about $99-120, way below retail. And I almost got Sylvia come cute Ugg Boots for $50 too. If your looking for some winter closeout items, checkout 6pm.

Oxford hotel
The family and I spent the night in Bend before our SunRiver springbreak with friends. The Eco-chic Oxford hotel in downtown Bend, is awesome. A must stay for everyone!!! It has been thoughtfully designed, modern, sophisticated and the rooms are large. But, it also brings in the cool mountain-town feel. The light fixture looks like an aspen tree, the desk lamp is deer antler, the marble top side table is a white lacquer branch, the sofa is heather brown w/ brass studs. It was soooo cool! We had 2 cozy queen beds w/ extra fluffy down pillows and comforter. There was a 60 inch flat tv in the bedroom and another tv in the sitting room..... Perfect for kids and grownups. Bathroom great, staff and service too. I highly recommend it.
5 stars from me:)

Style and Wardrobe Consulting
I can't recall where I came across the name of local Portlander, Sara Dahl, Style and Wardrobe Consultant, however, I enjoy going to her blog to find out what she is wearing and recommending.
This week she suggests pairing black and blue together (but the blue cant be navy.....pair w/ a contrast blue)...not exactly rocket science...... but she can help you build your wardrobe, determine what clothes look best on you while, also following the trends. Her "How to tie a Scarf" video was very helpful to me. She is also constantly shopping so she calls out the deals....boot sale at Nordies, or must buy Ann Taylor long sleeve tee's on sale....it's like your girlfriend calling you to say, "get here now....I'm in Anthropologie's clearance and you will want e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g".....she is looking out for you....

Relax Folks
The Story of Keep Calm and Carry On
This email is going around so I thought I would share......Its a timeless slogan and a message for all!
It was within our reach.....
I went to another Portland Public School Laurelhurst PTA meeting last night where we had PPS school boardmember, Pam Knowles and PPS Executive Director of Community Affairs, Robb Cowie, discussed the conditions of our schools and the latest rounds of soon-to-be budget cuts. I am glad they came to speak with us, however, we are in such a sad, sad state with no real tangible fix in sight. We were so close to winning the bond, only lost by 548 votes, and now we are back to square one. The other sad point is that while over 400 families attend Laurelhurst School, only 30 people (a big crowd last night) attend the PTA meetings. Why dont more parents get involved? Dont people realize that the more we bond together, the more we can get done? Why are people to busy to make time for this? Why isnt education a priority in parents lives? Boo-hoo!! Boo-hoo!! Sigh. Sigh.
Newly appointed State Representative Alissa Keny-Guyer, also attended last nights meeting. She has passion and knowledge for what's going on in the schools and with the new healthcare changes. I look forward to having her attend a future PTA meeting. She only spoke for 10 minutes, but it was great to personally meet her and listen to her hopes and plans. I signed up to attend some of her future "coffee-talks" which should be informative. If she can be hopeful, I guess I can be too.

8K
The "Shamrock Run", a race in Portland, has been around for years and is always the Sunday of St. Patricks Day weekend. Its a "fun-run" and people dress in their finest green for the occasion. Green tu-tu's, green wigs, giant hats, festive socks, its a lot of fun. I had planned to run the 5K but after a friend got sick, I joined my friends for the 8K. Having only trained to run 3 miles, I was nervous about running almost double that. BUT....I did it! It was great! Fantastic! Fun! I am so glad I pushed myself and had great friends to run w/ me and cheer me on! I am not even that sore today!! We had a great breakfast w/ Bloody's at Doug Fir after to celebrate.

Happy Green
The kids and I were laughing this morning about not wanting to get pinched so we better wear green. Is this a true statement for those who are not irish I wonder? We go with it to avoid the pinching.

Bath Ideas
My friend Erin told me about this great home decor website, www.houzz.com.
Its a great to browse thru home decor styles, and rooms to get ideas about what project to do next. I find the bedroom pictures serene and soothing. The entryway/hallway pictures give me ideas to help with the clutter and get more organized and boy oh boy the master bath pictures give me hope that someday I too can have my own private bathroom that I don't have to share with my children. My favorite bath pics are below....

Yellow
My hip friend looks so amazing in yellow with her long black hair. Not everyone can wear yellow "well" though, and I am one of them. Yellow tulips and daffodils are blooming all over Portland and the color is so happy, cheerful and bright that since I can't wear it....I should paint it! I think I should paint our front door yellow. Below are 2 great pictures of yellow doors that pop!

Benches and Wallpaper
Ok, I know my New Years resolution was to write each day....and I really do think about it EVERYDAY but I have had the b-l-a-h-'s lately. Haven't felt that I had ANYTHING interesting or inspiring in my life......maybe it's because 40 is looming or that my children have been hellish heathens sucking my blood and breath out of me!
Anyway, today is a NEW day and I made it to Fred Meyer's yesterday and broused for 2 hours (w/ my 3 year old) while we waited on her ear infection antibiotics. Anyhoo....they have a amazing IKAT red bench there that is so cool. YES at Fred Meyers!!! Its $199 but wait for a coupon and a sale. So cute. Wish I had a picture to share with you.
I am also pondering buying the sticky wallpaper from Urban Outfitters. It sounds like a project that I can do in my free time! The black/white would look great in the office on one wall or the Damsel in Aqua/Gray. You just sticker it on and cut what you need. Apparently, it peels right off too. Easy-Peasy for a quick change.
